This week’s market is an update on ‘The Global Short Story Competition‘. On my ‘Markets For Writers’ page, I detailed it as a monthly competition inviting stories of up to 2000 words on any subject but on checking the website, I’ve noticed it has recently changed to a quarterly competition.
It’s still worth entering; after all, famous travel writer, Bill Bryson endorsed it so it can’t be bad!
£100 and publication is awarded to the winner of each competition and the highly commended runner-up will receive £25 and publication of his/her story. There is also an end-of-year prize for the overall best story, which will see the winner £250 richer.
As the title of the competition implies, entries are accepted from all over the world. An entry fee of £5 is charged per story.
