Top Tip Of The Week

Lower not higher!

What’s wrong with the following sentence?:

“I’m going to the beach this weekend,” He said.

Answer: the capital ‘H’ of ‘He’. It should be lowercase and not uppercase. A lot of writers make this mistake and it’s so easy to do. But when you write using ‘he’ or ‘she’, for that matter, in a story, you don’t use a capital ‘h’ or ‘s’ so there’s no need to after a passage of dialogue. If you do it makes it look like you’re starting a new sentence, which of course you’re not as it wouldn’t make sense as two separate sentences.

Have a great weekend 🙂
