In my blog, I’ve covered various ways of kick-starting your writing by trying something a little different, such as some flash fiction or writing a limerick. Poetry is another enjoyable way of expressing yourself with words and for stimulating your writing. You don’t have to be good at it; just give it a go and enjoy it. You might even uncover a new passion and talent.
Even though I’ve had some success in poetry competitions in the past, I’m no poet but here’s my effort:
Parent and Child
Trying times and tears,
Firsts, fevers and fears,
Washing, worries and woes,
Nurturing, needing and no’s
= the joy of being a parent.
Tanrums and terrible twos,
Pouting, potties and poos,
Stomping, shouting and sighing,
Learning, loving and lying
= the joy of being a child.
