Yesterday I advised on the opportunity writing readers’ letters can bring. Here’s a tip to optimise your chances of having a letter accepted:
A lot of readers’ letters published on the letters pages are about articles previously featured in the magazines. If you send your letter off as soon as you can, you enhance your chances of having it accepted.
On the other hand, if you don’t send your letter off for several weeks/months, you lessen your chances of having it picked for publication. By this time, the editor will already have used all the letters he plans to about the particular article you’ve chosen to write about and have moved on to letters about more recent articles.
